Vintage Thursday?

Most people who know me are aware of the fact that I am a saver - of almost anything, but most especially of those things that are a part of my past. A friend of mine has been posting vintage items on her blog and I love looking at them. She mentioned the other day that I have quite a few vintage items around my house. I never really thought about it, but, hey, I am vintage myself, so why not share my treasures? I remember when Barbie was "born", yes I am older than Barbie. My mother didn't save many of my childhood items, but somehow I managed to hang on to a few things.
Obviously, this Barbie was one of my girls, but her outfit is definitely not. I thought this was the most beautiful dress in the world. Barbie was always a queen when she wore this, or maybe a movie star.

Again, this ensemble is being modeled by a "young" Barbie, but this dress is one of the first ones I received "back in the day." I don't know how well you can see this, Dawn, but this is the same style as one of the patterns you posted the other day.

Last but not least - the bubble haired Barbie! She is not my original one (I think that black haired, pony tailed girl went to goodwill) but she has been around the block a time or two. so has her dress (notice the missing real fur on one sleeve - don't tell PETA). A lot of girls got some mileage out of these doll clothes so it is pretty amazing that they are in as good a shape as they appear. That's it for my walk down memory lane for today :)

My mom used to have her old barbies that she would let us look at, not play with. Ken had real hair it was so funny! I wonder if they are still at her house?

Thanks for sharing! You should go visit the Apron Queen and link to other Vintage Thursday participants. It's fun to see other people's stuff and for total strangers from place like New Zealand to visit your blog! We had a great time the other night by the way!

What a great post! Love that you have those still. I wish I had some of my things from my childhood.
