Why we don't rake leaves!

It is here - the first snow of winter, so what better time to post pictures of playing in the second best of natures gifts, leaves! Of course, we have been having typically crazy Oklahoma weather, temperatures in the 70s one day and the 20s the next. I guess I wouldn't want it any other way. Well, fun Aunt Sally decided to play outside with the boys the other day and I thought I would take the time to post some pictures of their "leaf party." At our house, we don't rake leaves, we believe in natural mulch or grass protection or some other good excuse, but it sure makes for fun in the leaves :)
The crew had to spend some time gather the leaves into a big enough pile to cushion some major jumping.

Max was actually great help. Aunt Sally had the only rake so he made numerous trips to the pile by hand....

because he is very enthusiastic about these kind of activities.

Sam even helped, if reluctantly. His plan was to sit on the porch until time to blast into the leaf pile, but his mother convinced him that you have to pay (in this case work) to play.
Now to really reap the effects of jumping into leaves, you must get a running start.....
then you will sink up to your eyeballs.

Not to be out done, Ben did some jumping of his own - with his blazing speed he only needed to start about four feet out. Fun Times!

Great photos! It looks like the boys had a great time. If they want to play in more leaves, you can send them to Virginia. I think we have more trees in my neighborhood than in all of Oklahoma. =o)

They look like they had a blast! Leaf piles are so much fun and you definitely need a running start to get in a good jump! :-)
