Fall Is In The Air!!

I love fall! And the weather around here has been perfect. I also love fall decorations, even Halloween (as I believe I mentioned before). I am also somewhat of a procrastinator. My husband loves to garden and try his hand at growing things - sometimes with great success, sometimes, not so much. A couple of years ago, he was given some seeds to grow giant gourds. We saw some painted ones in Branson and they were amazing, so he was going to grow some and I would do my part by painting them. I was excited about this project. Greg planted a couple of hills of seeds and the vines took off! They spread out over the ground, up the wall, onto the yard. I thought "Wow, I'll have more gourds than I know what to do with!" Wouldn't you know, these giant gourds are awesome, but out that big ole vine, we got one gourd. Then you have to wait at least a year for it to dry out before painting. I must admit - I kind of forgot about it. I know, how do you forget about something that big? Some people can forget almost anything and I fall into that category.... but after tripping over the gourd in the garage, I got busy and painted that sucker up. I love this kind of thing. I am using the gourd as another Halloween decoration, so I tried to make it appeal to my grandchildren - seems I only do things that appeal to my grandchildren these days. Don't know how I did anything before these little munchkins were around.

Here is Sammy posing with the green gourd a couple of years ago...

The finished product!
In case you can't tell, the costumed ghosts are "Trick or Treating" in a haunted village.
