It's Great to be Home!

There's nothing like vacation to wear you out and make you appreciate home. We had a great time in New York City! And when you are in a place like this, so different from home, you have to go, go, go! to see all you can see in a few days, so resting is not in the itinerary. (Annie didn't think sleep was in her itinerary since she stayed in a room with a bunch of snorers and I don't think she slept much) I took about a million pictures so I will be dividing the trip into at least three posts (this way I have some things to post all week :D )
Greg, Annie, and Josh were figuring out the Subway system. We felt like pros by the time we were finished.
One of the first things we did was visit Ground Zero. It was pretty amazing and so touching. This is St Paul's Church, which is right across from the site of the World Trade Center. Amazingly, it was undamaged. It served as the center for many of the workers and the rescue work done there. This is also the church where George Washington worshipped when the nation's capital was in NYC. There are many displays inside the church from around the world, sending messages of hope and encouragement after 9/11. We were so proud to see this huge banner hanging up for all to see.
We walked around Battery Park, but we didn't take the ferry out to Liberty and Ellis Islands, but I did take this picture of Lady Liberty, she looks deceptively small from here.
Greg walked us all over the place on Friday. Of course, he said one of his lifelong goals was to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. So, how could he be denied?
They are admiring the view from the bridge, really I think they are just resting. I don't even want to know how many miles we walked today, but Greg did allow us to take the subway from Brooklyn back to Manhatten.

This huge flag is hanging outside the New York Stock Exchange Building. They have the street blocked to protect this street. No one can drive down it, therefore no one can get close to the building with a car bomb.
Here, the boys pose`with the Wall Street "Bull"

We even had our own personnel tour guide, Greg has to much "trivia" stored away that he gave us most of the same information that any guides we had gave us. We could have hired him out!

Stay tuned for more New York happenings!
