Snake Wrangler!

If you know me at all, you are aware of my "snake" phobia. Snakes are creepy, big or little, black or white, dead or alive, makes no difference to me, I hate them all! I learned along time ago that living in the city of Woodward does not protect one from various wildlife. We've had deer, possums, turkeys, armadillo, skunks - to name a few - all crawling around our yard at one time or another. We had also had the random snake, so I've been told by my snake loving husband. Well, last week I go skipping (not literally, although I'm sure that would be entertaining) to the mail box, when I froze.... There, right in the middle of the driveway, a dead snake, shiny white belly side up. I tell you, I almost didn't get the mail, but I did walk clear into the neighbors yard to complete the task. I don't do dead anything and I don't do snakes at all. Greg has been working so much I was afraid that snake corpse was going to be on the driveway for the duration. Well, Sally and Emily showed up pretty soon (the boys were with me, but I didn't mention the snake lest they want to go poke around on it, yuck) I have managed to not pass on this abnormal phobia to my daughters (with the possible exception of Annie) so I knew I could count on Sally to dispose of the snake. Sally, armed with a shovel and a sack, led the children to the end of the driveway so they could all participate in this adventure. Sam told her he could pick up that snake and immediately grabbed it and plopped it on her shovel. Laughing, she said "Why not just put it in the sack?" Which, of course, he immediately did. He was so proud of himself, he strutted back into the house saying-
"I'm not afraid of no snake!"
Now, I need to convince my grandsons that exposing Mimi to a snake of any kind would probably result her in going to heaven ahead of her time....they do worry me a little. Man, I have rambled for a long time, but I thought I should mention, the evil serpent was probably only about eight inches long - might as well have been eight feet :)

Don't feel bad, I nearly came out of my skin at the local pet store here last week when I walked into the snake den. I can't stand them either, especially when they aren't in a cage, are 10 feet long and wrapped around some guy 4 feet from me. I was gone, no need to look for me there, it took everything I had not to leave the store and leave my family there. HA

I'm laughing not at you but b/c I would have done the same thing except I probably would have screamed and then ran in the house and set on the couch with my absolutly not touching the floor. I would fear the dead snake would some how revive it's self and come eat me! I to have a very bad snake phobia!

I'm with you on the snake phobia! I stand by the credo that the only good snake is a dead one and I still don't want to see it either!

You make my day! Thank you so much for always having the kindest words for me! I only blog about the times when I have a good outlook...I keep the other times to myself! ;-) I hope you have a great, snake-free week!
