A Little bit of nuthin!

So, my only new years resolution was to post more to my blog, then this wonderful new year started and guess what - not much has been happening around here. The grandkids haven't been around much, Greg hasn't been around much, and I am just not that exciting, bet you never would have guessed! But my friend, Dawn, inspired this little post. I love reading her blog, she is such a great writer, and her posts are always so fun to read (I think she should publish them). Dawn has some really cool mementos of her childhood. I do have a few, I know I posted about them in the past. To make a short story long, check out the picture......

My friend and I called these our "Characters" and we both probably had about a thirty or forty of them. You could buy these little guys at the local five and dime for anywhere from five cents to a quarter, depending on the "character." Our favorite activity was getting to walk to "Franks" on main street on Saturday afternoon, clutching our change, and making our purchases. The deposit on one good coke bottle equaled a new addition to our collection. On occasion, I had to include my little sister on these excursions, which I must admit made me feel all the more grown up. I know you are thinking, what kind of parents let their six or seven year olds walk to town by themselves! Remember, it was a simpler time -and by simpler I mean, - I was probably nine or ten. And yes, we still played with those toys at that age, and dolls, and dinosaurs, hide and seek, and kick the can, I could go on and on............ I wonder if you recognize the identity of my "character" survivors?

Those are so cute. I remember going to a small town five and dime when I was a kid and spending forever 'shopping!' I love small town reminiscences. And thanks for the compliments!

Obviously that is Dumbo and Daisy, but who is the dog?

I don't recgonize the dog either. I think it must have been quite nice to experience that time in history, though growing up in the 80's was pretty simple compared to today also.
