Most of you are probably thinking the answer is "MASS CHAOS" and you are not far from wrong, but the answer is also " a lot of fun!" One of our family traditions around this time of year is to gather all of the grandchildren together for a huge egg decorating "
eggstravaganza." I think I boiled 10 dozen eggs (I honestly did keep thinking about all the hungry children in the world and we are dying 120 eggs).
As you can see, there is quite a crew gathered around our dining room table, and this is not all of them!
This is the first year that I noticed the "artistic side" emerging in the children. They were very particular about how they decorated their eggs.
The young ladies are wearing the latest fashion for egg dying, better known as Mimi's old tee shirts. They really don't think it is fair that the boys can go without shirts. Don't worry girls, this is not the last time you will think the boys got the best end of the deal...
Lily spent a great deal of time studying her subject before she committed to a design. She is definitely my little artist.
As you observe these two young men busily beautifying a few eggs, you may be thinking to your self, "Man, Max looks so grown up." Let me clarify that what looks to be an early display of chest hair is really just the remnants of a rub on
tattoo. I'm hoping that is the only kind of
tattoo he ever sports...
Ben said he was just telling "My boy, Max" how pretty his eggs were, but I secretly think he was trying to wipe the dye off of his hands.
This was as close as we could get Ryder to the egg decorating. He must have been suffering from "artist's block" that day. Brock did actually do some dying, but I was helping him, so, hence, no pictures.
Even Heidi got into the act, but she did have some pretty good assistance.
Writing on the eggs with crayon was a very popular part of the process this year. Max is concentrating hard on his creation (probably trying to write
OSU, go figure).
Emily is not to be out done in the crayon department...
even Ruby is prepared to make a few crayon marks, she just has to "taste" the egg first.
But I must say, Ben had the most unique approach, put the egg in the cup of dye THEN proceed to make your mark. I, personally, think that with these brilliant children in control, the future is secure. Have a great week!

I just love reading your post! Your commentary makes me actually laugh out loud and I love hearing about each grandchild's unique personality. We might have to dye eggs in our underwear next year....I think Ben is on to something!
The think I like best is seeing Ben in his undies...makes me think of Palmer!!
