I made a quick trip to Owasso last week. Brock was getting ear tubes (they had to be there so early that I think it qualified for the middle of the night) so I went to help out with the other kiddos. The trip turned into a multi-tasker. Not only could I do a little baby sitting, I got to see Coop play t-ball and also contribute something to Ella's new room.
The last time I was at Ella's house, she and I slept in their upstairs room. This is one nice room. It is quite large, with two dormer windows and it's own bathroom. Apparently, after I returned home, Ella wanted to continue sleeping up there (she is a brave little girl). This resulted in a family decision, move Ella's bedroom upstairs and Ryder could finally have his own "masculine" bedroom. I'm sure he will grow to appreciate this in time.
The upstairs room is so large and also serves as a guest room so Ella only gets to claim part of it as her own. This actually worked out quite well since Ella wants her own "house" not just a room. Her dad made her this cool loft bed (under the direction of mom) that fits into one of the dormer windows complete with ladder, she got to move her "stuff" into house and Mimi provided the outside walls. Actually, I just provided the labor not the supplies. It was a fun project made even more special because Ella loves it so much.
This picture was taken during the process. The only thing Ella didn't like was the fact that she didn't get to participate in the actual painting. She picked out what she wanted her house to look like and then settled for painting on the wood scraps. These little gems of art were supposed to be for her cousins, but I forgot to pick up the ones that were Woodward bound. Ella will probably keep them and deliver them herself. No, those are not horseshoes painted on the wall, just be patient and you will figure it out.
Ta Da! The finished project! It took a little persuasion to convince her that, no, she did not need an actual door at the entrance to her house.
I have always loved these kinds of projects, getting to do them for grandchildren makes them so much more special!
