Announcing Ryder Scott Karn!

Ryder Scott

This morning at 1:30 am the telephone rings. Now when the phone rings at that time of night it is one of two things, a problem with a drilling rig or bad news. But it was neither, Katie was calling to say her water broke at home. She was upset. She kept saying, "But I'm not ready!" Well, the thing that mattered was Ryder was ready so she had to get ready. We got on the road and made it to the hospital with about an hour to spare. Her doctor went to the OU/Texas game (but she had a good stand-in) and luckily Jason decided to skip the game, so all the necessary players were in attendance. After the epidural, things went smoothly, until the baby's shoulders got hung up in the birth canal and the situation was a little dicey for a few minutes. Quick prayers were offered up and the Lord came through and Little Ryder finally made his appearance. I use the term "little" loosely, because he is 21 inches long and weighs 9 pounds 5.7 ounces and he was ten days early. He is the biggest baby in the nursery, he already has fat rolls!! I took a ton of pictures and then left my camera in Katie's hospital room. I posted one picture of Annie's today (check out Annie's blog for more pics), but stay tuned for regular updates as the week progresses........
