Down on the farm!

As most of you know, my parents live on five acres. To my grandsons, Max and Sam, that is a a first class farm:) They are always begging to go to Nanny and Pa Rice's! Mandy needed to go to OKC this week, so we loaded up the boys and went to Yukon to spend the night on the "farm." It was so beautiful when we arrived, that Max and Sam pestered my Dad into taking them to the barn. It really didn't take much pestering and off they went. Of course, I followed close behind with my camera (gotta grab those posting opportunities) They all needed to explore the hayloft and the boys thought that my 80 year old dad had to go with them, so of course they all clamored up there. That place hasn't seen hay in many a year, but the boys thought it was great!
Max is trying for the "Oscar" here - modeling his scared face. He really wanted to jump out of the loft to the ground but I firmly nixed that idea. I don't want him to know that we used to jump out of it when I was a kid.
Brotherly love at it's finest!
There are so many places to explore and things to climb on - a boy's paradise. Unfortunately, these boys are not old enough to be turned loose on their own, so we all explore together.
Poor Ben needs to get his walking skills perfected. Until then, he has to stay behind in the house. I don't know if he will ever get those skills down, he insists on being picked up all the time!
It started raining Sunday night and continued most of the day Monday. It stopped about the time we were to leave, much to the boys dismay. The creek that had absolutely no water in it on Sunday was overflowing the bridge Monday afternoon.Max really wanted to jump in, I know, but since he didn't dare, he just wanted to post for the picture. With the pouring rain all day Monday, two cooped up little boys find their own entertainment. Max made his own way down the stairs and he wanted it photographed for posterity, I guess.
First we go over the side.....

free fall to the floor....
and we end with a bow - Ta Dah! I just have to add that my dad found this little stunt hilariously entertaining. This man would have never tolerated one of his immediate offspring descending the stairs in this manner, but the further the generations get from him the funnier he thinks they are and he also thinks they are better behaved!

How fun!! Is this the same place we stayed at in Yukon back in HS cheerleading? I don't remember it being in the country but I remember the house clearly.

It always amazes me what our parents let my kids get away with when we are there, things that they would have tanned our back sides for when we were kids.

Your grandkids are so lucky to get to spend so much time with you.

I just love those boys! You know the time is shortly coming to an end where Max will ask to jump off things (the barn) and he will just do it!!! Of course, I have done once or twice! ;)
